Is this tank large enough to keep rays for life or are you going to get a bigger on later?

    Thanks Maria
Took her threw to workshop to see it and try to convince her to let the tank stay at work and move crumpet her ray to the workshop. It did not go to plan, but she is excited and going on holiday when I try get it into my flat.
For now it is physically the biggest tank I can fit into my house without having to do crazy stuff like mounting tv on top of tanks. Believe I should be able to have trio of rays quite happily for life, but bigger is better. Photo side on for size ref @Whoknows

You're tank is huge:tt2: I'm surprised you're even manging to get that into a 2 bedroom flat.
Are you using internal filters on the tank or a sump?

@top dog ... Hahhha did you really think she would allow crumpet out of sight?
    That was wishful thinking!!!

I know some of you guys duck and dive the Minister but when the Minister is hooked believe me, place will be found for the tank!!

    @Whoknows ,

2.6m X 1m X 700 will comfortably house 4 rays for life depending on the species

Providing they not pure Motoros or Pearls you will be fine
With hybrids, you could probably house 5 especially if they have mini marble mix in them

This being said, it is providing you have sufficient filtration in your tank.... nice big sump
You cant run on internal filters only long term
You might get away with it while they small but once they reach about 15cm disc you looking for trouble without a sump

Its the same size as mine and I usually have 4 adults and two youngsters depending on how we need to move them around

Why don't you start a thread with the progress of the project?

When the minister approves.... We don't need that cupbaord anymore do we.. Move it and put the tank there

4 rays seem like a fair amount I don't think there are many people who would want more then 4 ;)
So rather forgot about the internal filters all together and just build a giant sump the same length as the tank

@top dog got the dimensions from when he got lost at your house.
I know what size my next tank is going to be:tt2:

    Hahhaa @top dog and I are still conservative.... try 7 rays in one tank... 3.6 X 1.2 X 900

I must be honest, I love my built in internal filters and will never have a tank without them again
You have no idea how fast those filters draw all the floating debris into them
They have intake holes all the way from the bottom to the top of the tank, they magic

That's one massive tank. Deffently can't fit that though a normal door and 7 rays going all out aming for 10 then?

You have different internal filters to the ones I've seen where water can go in all the way from top to bottom the ones only have a small opening on the very bottom.

Haha no... 10 is looking for trouble even in that tank

My internal filters have two rows of holes all the way from top to bottom
I also removed the covers you see on the picture below

If you had the space for the extra massive tank then 10 rays would look amazing but that would probably need a 5 meter tank.

Much better then just entering on the bottom. Whoever built your tank did an amazing job

    Thanks @Whoknows ,

I must say the internal filters built this way are just miracle workers especially on big tanks.
