@BradK, it depends on a lot of things such as

Glass thickness, how much bracing you put in, what filtering system you want built in and who does it for you as well as how much DIY work you put in yourself
If you interested, I will pm you James's number and you can discuss with him what you looking for and he will quote you

Joh great work. You not concern with the DB box being there and water spills?

I would like to know if anyone know tank builders in cape town

It looks so fresh - I can almost smell the silicone through my screen!

Glad that the guys doing the building are aware of the limited time frame and are working with you. Is there an ETA on the complettion? Water holding test? Etc?

    Thanks @Innocent159
It is a worry... but I didnt have much choice as the plug itself available to me is (you can see from the picture) basically next to the DB board
I dont have another plug within reasonable reach of the tank that I could use
To be honest, the plug worries me more than the DB board as it is pretty well sealed and supposed to be water proof
I am going to look for a cover for that plug though and see what I can find

The bracing on the tank is quite wide and because of the Aros, the tanks are covered so hopefully that will minimize the risk of spills...

    Thanks @Barry Roux

Yes.... I did wire straight to the DB board... But I agree with you and your suggestion... thanks..
I am going to take your advice and do that... fortunately I have four/five weeks to kill before I can fill up so I have time to make changes

    Thanks Tim
Hahha today its much better but the first few days and yesterday morning all we could smell was silicone even with fans blowing and windows open !!!

The builder has been good and accommodated the emergency but he also saw with his own eyes the urgency in it
We were also very lucky that the gentleman he was supposed to go to before me, also shares our passion and knowing how desperate I was, allowed the builder to come to us first which we were very grateful for

Completion thank God was done yesterday, I will post some pictures
Water holding test in a tank this size will only be done in 4 to 5 weeks time...
Some people say less but Im a bit scared to take chances with this kind of water volume so despite it being ready we still have a long road of stress and moving fish around ahead

I see. You can also change the plug to the plugs they use outdoor that has cover and made to be water resistant

All the bottom bracing was done

    Overflow box went in

And.... the tank itself is now done....

Still all the rest of the work to do though which will still keep me busy for a short while

Now.. the frustrating 4/5 week wait....

Yes... that's more or less what I had in mind... I will go and see what is the safest I can find and change it when I get stuck into the plumbing

I have four weeks that I have to keep myself busy with so I dont go crazy looking at an empty monster so I have plenty time to make all these changes...

    Thanks @hviviers75

Hahha well.. its killing me already and its only a week!!

Some people say two weeks is enough.. the builder recommended 4 weeks..

The other two big tanks I also waited 5 weeks... with this size tank and the volume of water.... I must admit I feel safer sacrificing and waiting a little longer
The thought of around 4000l water in my lounge is not appealing....

    Thanks @top dog

Hahha yes... everything around this tank looks tiny including the overflow box!!
We were sitting having supper tonight and staring at it in awe ourselves

The pump I bought is 10 000l per hour which gives me just under twice per hour
I dont want the water traveling too fast through the media or your bacteria also doesnt have time to do its job
I will monitor and see, If I have to i can increase it

@Cesar . You can be proud as hell!!! love the tank. Can not wait to see it full of life and the rays will love it. I will have to contact you during the year to get the builders number. I am also looking to build a 3 meter for the dining room.

I have been following this thread for a while and will continue to do so. All the best man.
