if i could subdue them, i would.

Better idea. Paintball gun with coloured balls

Damn fecking cows. Why do they have to be so destructive?

This is the only purple fig bush and they had to damage it. Plus eat the cabbages. Also knocked over bonsai pots with my blue eyed grass.

I used Google Translate - had to type out boelder beestie and it returned a translation saying "lively beast". Is that correct?

Both words are made up. He wanted to say bedonerde which means angry/pissed off and beeste which is ploral for cows. He's english and tried to speak afrikaans and I swear a lot so must have heard me say bedonerd sometime. Weird how it stuck with me, I nearly pissed myself laughing when he said it.

I saw that on the news a little earlier... its heartbreaking....
It will be a miracle if anyone else is found alive,,
About three years ago a huge double story house went up in flames in Drumblade where we stay... basically two blocks down from my place
We were there probably in 10 minutes from the time i got the call for help and we already couldnt get in
That place went up in max 20 minutes... the roof came down in no time and an hour later, even with fire brigade there, the walls all collapsed
    Luckily no one got hurt...
I dont think anyone here will ever forget the site so i can just imagine what those people went through...
I hope they manage to establish what caused it...

Thanks, these are the winter plants. Calendula does well in the cold, which is why I bought them. Alyssum grows all year round. The greater cobra lily only flowers in the winter which is nice for a change to the other flowers that only flower in spring / summer. The snowdrops have been pushing through so only from August, they will start flowering. The nandina fire shrub stays red all winter which is an awesome colour and then turns green from spring through summer, turning orange in autumn.

I found a packet of Namaqualand flower seeds yesterday so going to throw them in the empty space and hope they grow.

The nice thing about this section is that in the winter, there is no shade as the trees shed all the leaves and then from spring through summer, it's full shade so it makes it easier to change the plants according to the seasons.

Yup, the authorities were very very surprised at how quickly the fire spread.

    Stopped watching on the news.
They showed interviews with survivors. Telling their stories of how they got out.
    Nightmare stuff.

Anyone seen or know about fresh water clams? Thinking of adding a few to my tank with shrimps and Malaysian trumpet snails?

You can get clams, unfortunately they require specialist feeding with Extremely fine foods and good current. Also the larvae are parasitic and start their life off attached to a fishes gills
