Lol yeah excuse the pun, for some reason when i created my garden a year ago, Jimmy kept on digging everything out but left my mom's garden spaces alone. I gave up on it as he dug it up for the 3rd time. Lil sh!t...

Thanks. My parents came home this afternoon and she loved the new garden makeover. There is a lot of empty space that she must choose what she wants to plant. I suggested the Namaqualand daisy mixed seed packet and she said yes!!!

I had to lol when i inquired about my dad's reaction to me using the bricks - he wasnt very happy about it. We just laughed and my mom said she quite likes the changes I've made.

Well worth it all. She said we must just watch the weeds bec the garden girl doesnt do anything properly and she is lazy. She's in big trouble when she comes back next week as she hasn't done what she was supposed to do.

Thanks @fishfanatic72 - I still have a few pots of rain lilies to plant and then there's the seed packet of Namaqualand mixed daisies. This flu sucks though so been taking it easy since Friday. Done two WC on the cube and Freya's Garden. Done a WC on the 70 today and rescaped a bit.

I was having a chat with the group yesterday about my light issue - thinking it's definitely the light that is causing all the green sloop algae as I noticed the timer plug was off but the light was glowing (started about 2 months ago). Which is why I am replacing all my lights with the new led downlights. It's not even that expensive either - just found the same globe for R74 on the same site but it's non-dimmable and I don't plan to install a light dimmer switch for them. Just costs too much for all 3 tanks - best to put them all on timers and sit back. The ones I have on Freya's Garden is dimmable, kinda explains why they are R109 each.

Going to look on that site shortly and make an order for the remaining globes and fittings - if I recall correctly after doing my spreadsheet budget, 3 more of those will only cost me R209 - cutting off R200 from my previous purchase. The best thing about these is that when the lamp goes bust, you only need to replace the globes. Not the whole unit - unlike the led chips and the striplight I have.

I have an off topic question. How do you vacuum the gravel of a well planted tank? How do you clean it? I have no plants and one of the things I do is a vacuum my gravel once every 2-3 weeks. What happens when the tank has plants?

I have, 2 liter coke bottle monster siphon that suck up everything that comes close. I hover it above my plants near the gravel and it gets the crud out.

How quickly does the tank empty and can you post a photo?

I'll take a pic when I get home. It drains a 350L in under 2 minutes. The bottle screws into the pipe. I also put a tap on it so I can regulate the flow. Just be careful though haha, when I used it the first time I took half the gravel with it but you get the hang after a while. I had to go buy more gravel after that try.

I restrict the flow when vacuuming around the plants into the gravel and then full blast over the plants to get the gunk out from between them.

I don't think it will work in my 30l tank. It will empty in 2 seconds.

Found a pic on my pc. No it won't even fit. On my smaller tanks I use a normal size one and use my hand to get the gunk loose. It takes longer but it also works.

    Here's the thing.

How high above the gravel do you use it? The normal size one I put against the gravel to suck up all the dirt.
