Spot on Vis ... was trying to come up with an argument that because the window is square the rules would not apply, instead I spend 90 minutes moving things around - taking photo's, drawing grids etc ...

The result is what I hope to be my final revamp ... might still do some trimming of the moss, lets see.

Hi Ferdie I think what distracts from your scape a little is the background, it's a bit bold. It brings that background way forward.

If it was a little less distinct it would have created more of an illusion that it was further away.

Thanks, yeah agree on the pic it does look a bit much, when I look it seems less distracting - hence the way I am taking the pics needs a bit more playing with, I think the subject matter is now proper, not much I feel I want to change as this is now a long term project and less relevant to the initial comp.

Must say I do think it has nice potential in a nano, seems like some of the inhabitants also like it.

Interesting how quickly they colour up after a molt.

Like the leaves that are pushing ...

    001.jpg

But the pearling moss and plants are the winners today.

In keeping with updates ... 15 days left ..

    003.jpg

No major new algae yet - well also not dosing loads since nothing in the tank grows fast at the best of times.

Moving the light around to get the plants to bow a bit seems to have done the trick.

So letting it be a bit longer.

    This tank actually works.
Its amassing that a year or 2 ago, no one talked about shrimp expect on the blacklist discussions.
No every one shows off their shrimp.

I hear you on the shrimp thing ... In SA we have a proud recent history of things that was not OK but now ... , Act No. 72 of 1985 was a big precursor it has had a profound impact on the world I live in and all for the better as a sum-total (this is my view and not a point for debate or trolls). Actually, much like having shrimps in a planted tank. With more freedom comes more responsibility, heck even TASA is proof of this. How often do we still have people going at each other for some 2 line comment post they made or pic posted. Tolerance has also improved, even on TASA noobs are not lambasted when they buy a BL'ed plant and told they may not post about said plant. I believe we have more people in the hobby for longer since they can grow and learn more, I sure have and hope to even start relearning gain ;-)

Not saying all the work is done and we can now sit back and go well done or see told you this would never work lets go do our own thing. Worst yet, lets immigrate cause in the UK I can keep shrimp.

Thanks - yeap agree the small space has me rather giddy at the moment, I even swept the floor - well most of it.

hmm - something not lekker in the water - lost all the shrimp and an off sent lingers. Added some probio pond cleaner - hope that helps what ever is missing.

I am sure it will Mark, they are good bio indicators so having them peg is not all bad. I am suspecting a 50% WC is part of the problem, without water issues we are having I am not so sure about tap water at the moment.

Top down view looks great. Did the probiotics clear the water at all? Just asking, cos I tried the stuff in most of my tanks and ponds, but was completely underwhelmed.

For me it is not about clear the water .... but not having to do a WC at the moment. I took the fishy smell away so something is working and nothing more has died. Will be adding tester shrimp back into the tank - then we will now for sure.

Note on SCD bacteria - they do need to be replenished, so a top-up every now and again is needed.

    The plants look healthy.

Oh ya forgot you guys are having water issues up that side of the country...sure you can come right with all the additives on the market these days without having to do water changes. :)

Prodibio products are great Broder, I used Biodigest to start up both my fresh water setups...giving them that bacterial kick start. On my Innovative Marine tank I ran it on the full Prodibio regime before taking the tank down and water quality and coral colours and growth was great. :)
