Oh hell...what now? Maybe an issue with the bond between silicon and paint?

You may have to go with an epoxy type sealer?

I drained the tank and checked the silicone, there was a gap in the silicone, where I switched tubes and that caused problems, just going to re silicone again and see

Just one question, looking at the tank itself .... those 2 braces that go across the tank, are those steel or wood? If it's wood how did you attach them to the main frame - surely the pressure of that amount of water will strain the screws you attached them to the main frame.

Also - you probably know- joining dry silicone to new silicone is NOT guaranteed to work. I would suggest you scrape out as much of the old silicone with a blade ( HELL OF A JOB JOB !!!!!!) and rather re-do the entire inside seal over again so that you have one complete new seal as opposed to joins.
I hope you are using Den Braven silicone for this job - it really is the very best of all the silicones on the market. You can buy it directly from Den Braven - cause it's not so easy to find in shops

    man that sucks
    good luck with the repair.
i would try get out all the old silicone as @eros111 has said.
have a chat to abe technical and try find out if there is a better solution than silicone.
would also try den braven technical for a solution

yea, i decided to take the glass out after 2 attempts at patching
I am using den braven silicone eros111
The tank didnt flex much without the braces, as the wood is quite heavily reinforced, they are just there as an extra precaution and to rest the lids of the tank on
they are also screwed in with 150mm screws so sheer strength of the screw isnt a problem

First off, this is an awesome build! Looks amazing! If I wasn't about to head overseas for a while I would try making one myself, been dying to since seeing the KingofDIY's build haha.

Second.. I know you said you made a brace gram for the front panel, but how have you silicone with that? Filled the gap then dropped in or dropped in then silicone? Just interested more than anything as its one of those things I have to have in front of me to work out what to do haha.

Good luck with the repairs, this kind of thing is always a learning curve but one of the most fun kinds (albeit expensive as sin...)

I put the silicone in and then dropped in and added some silicone after.
Just an update, I will be putting the glass back in this afternoon, and check wether it’s waterproof in 3-4 days, going to leave it a lot longer this time as I think the silicone didn’t stick too well to the laykold, so hoping more time will work better.
