Work on the stand / cabinet can apparently only start today, delivery earliest Saturday. But I doubt it... these specific carpenters are affordable and do good work but timelines are always an issue. Think I’ll phone them daily

In the interim will keep all the bubble wrap on the tank to keep it as safe and scratch free as possible. But I had a sneak peek and liked what I saw

Uhm... my patience is really being tested by the stand/cabinet delay situation.

I’ve been there twice already. Once to deliver the handles and check on progress (the week before last, it was clearly still far from done), and then again last Thursday. By Thursday the cabinet was basically done and in the showroom already. They just needed to replace the door hinges with larger ones, which I agreed with, and lubricate the drawer rollers. Delivery was promised to be the next day. Nothing. Followed up on Saturday and was promised delivery on Sunday (yesterday). Crickets chirping.

In the interim I’ve assembled everything for setup on & under the dining room table so our living room is a right mess.

Plus the jungle tank continues to be overstocked and the quarantine tank still has additional minnows in so can’t even start to quarantine fish for the 65L. Plus all the tubs with plants on the floor and whatnot.

Sorry about the rant but I’d prefer it if someone says “realistically speaking it will only be delivered in two weeks time”. No problem, I understand that everything is a bit of a mess with lockdown. Don’t tell me tomorrow 3 times in a row and let me assemble everything in the lounge like an idiot

Different topic: I’ll soon start a new thread under Planted Tanks, as this one is under DIY. Have also chickened out of hillstream loaches and gobies for now but still a strong option for later when I have more fishkeeping experience under my belt and the tank has matured... In the interim I’m going to set up a riparium with lots of emersed growth, using the same mockup and everything collected but simply cranking down flow. Shouldn’t be a big deal to convert to a hillstream tank in future if needed. But for now a riparium seems to make sense for me based on the pond, planted tub experiment etc. This is what happens when one has too much time to think and stare at an empty tank

Thanks Gary, I know there are significantly bigger problems in the world than me waiting for a stand, but the little rant helped :)

So happy for you that the hillies are on their way...yes!

Sorry for the wait @A new day ! I would be chomping at the bit. With the hillstream and gobies on pause, what other stocking do you have planned?

Thanks @nealos6 I’ll add my danios and white clouds with cycled biomedia and let things settle a bit while I stock the 65L.

But top contenders for bottom dwellers are a group of khulis (then Braveheart could move over and have friends, although catching a khuli from a jungle tank might be mission impossible), and/or a school of cooler water corys eg peppers...

Hoped you kept the bubble wrap. It is useful for insulating the tank during the cold months.

    Tank looks nice there. Congratulations.

Hope you get your stand soon

Are the dimensions of the tank still the same as the first post?

The waiting game really is painful I won’t lie, I probably would have been building my own stand by this point...

Looking awesome though! Stoked to see what it looks like as you start the actual setup:)

 Thanks man. You reckon I should just push the dining room table to the wall and work with it?
    It’s been bloody 3 months!

Shift the table to the wall, get some nice hanging plants to cover the storage space underneath and then get hold of one of those monster bean bags to put in front of the tanks to sit in and stare in awe

Yeah I like that idea
But probably only appeals to fishkeepers
