So I'm standing on day 44 about and fry are growing quite good. Can't see that numbers have declined so I should still be at around 20 at this stage. Feeding 3 times a day, 6 in the morning, 6 at night and just before lights out at 8:30. Alternating between micro worms, Dario fry powder and crushed Ocean Nutritian Formula 1, or combination of 2 types at a time.

Starting to look more like fish now and also swimming deeper down in the tank, compared to only the top 1/4.400ef795a6d59c17e7d150f028c0708a.jpg41ca9dad052a351b4086960aed920d52.jpg

Just to compare. In the previous post I caught 1 of the biggest fry. Here is a foto that shows the differance that, if I have to guess, 7 to 10 days make in growth and development.9feef8e4f1fdae734ff7f1a8be24dfac.jpg4a7bb2c639045ed1ee146b5359f19371.jpg

Thanks @MariaS. In my own way I'm trying to keep a visual record of the growth of Kutubu fry, as there is nothing similar on the www.

    Well done Pierre!
You must get some Sp1 from Prof Dirk, through Marco maybe? It's working well for the killis!

I fully agree with that, even when there is something on the web

I do the same with whatever we happen to breed, I think its not only nice to be able to go back and see but also educational info which you can always refer back to
Although off topic, I do the same with any treatments i need to do on our tanks with a record of the medication, dosage and all tank inhabitants because you can always go back and check what worked and what fish it was safe with

So yes.. Im a sucker for hording pictures and info

    Thanks @Hendre and @TheGrissom.

For the next bach I will prepare myself better regarding food and will defnitly get my hands on some of the profs foods. At least with the records I'm keeping with these guys I will be able to compare growth rates as they develop.

Try baby brine shrimp too, apparently it gives a serious edge on growth :)

They do. Issue is often the fry are too small to take any. But the time the fry look like the little guy pictured above it should be okay. Usually the first 3 or so weeks are when the most losses occur.

Day 49 and I moved 28 Kutubu and 1 unknown fry to their grow out tank. The unknown fry I collected from the 4ft's sump might be Kutubu but might also be Boesemani, will have to wait and see what it wants to be.

Short video of them in the new tank. Will try and get a, focused, foto of them later.

Thanks f-fish It is a bit more than what I hoped for, but not close to the 112 I started off with. At least I'm learning as I'm going so it can only go better 2nd time around.

Fry are certainly an experience! Seems like you won't have an issue getting more though.

I think the rainbow factory has opened it's doors. If things work out as planned I might be getting my dream Rainbows, hopefully in the next year. Then the guppies will have to make way for the dream to grow.

Day 52 and all is still going well. I can't believe the growth I'm seeing. Not much a controlled representation as the foto's are defnitly not of the same fish. Bottom right was 1st week. Bottom left 17 days. Top right 42 days. Top left 52 days.

On some of them there is a blueish color starting to show. Still having the same feeding routine. Grinding some Ocean Nutrition for them. If it isn't a powder it is too big for them to eat. Most uneaten food gets cleaned up by the shrimps in the tank.

As from tomorrow I will be starting to do 2 x 25% water changes a week as my feeding is increasing and you can see some buildup on the bottom of the tank.740f9d58ee83e203505d087e748e2a44.jpg
