Throwing a teabag in your aquarium is good for your overall tank, but will it be okay for your fry?
Any feedback will be much appreciated. Currently have a whole batch of wigglers.

Thank you Ferdie... just wanted to make sure. Don't want to kill the little guys.

I know a few breeders that always do their breeding with rooibos tea and always do great. Remember that rooibos tea creates their natural environment.

I normally put the tea bags in a material net bag I buy at some pet shops. I put it in the tank with a stone on top to prevent it floating around at the top. The quantity of tea bags depends on the tank size.

Even for community tank. Rooibos tea is natural and contains no caffeine. There is lots of vitamins in there that will help your fish and boost their health. In August I'm going to add 80 rooibos tea bags in my 1200 litre tank.

It is a big tank with 7 fish between 25cm and 64cm. The water is going to be dark brown. I only require 40 bags but I create the natural rain season.

I will first try 1 bag per tank for a couple of days. Can I just float the bags?

I use Rooibos in a lot of my tanks as well.
It has the same beneficial properties as Indian Almond Leaf, being antibacterial, combats fungi, and is a general tonic.
The colouration is also natural for a lot of fish.

In my CPD 45L grow-out tank I have 1 teabag in permanently.
Shrimp also love tearing open the bags, and feeding on the Rooibos.

I have found that 1 teabag for every 40L works well for me.

Any more, and the water is a bit too dark, particularly with fry.
I leave the teabag in my HOB filter for a maximum of a week, before removing the teabag.
Any longer, and the bag starts deteriorating, causing loose tea leaves to float around.
