    Hi guys and girls

Has anyone seeded biomedia this way before? I thought that, in theory, if I place the mature media on top of the airstone and the new media above that, the water flowing through the media would speed up the process of seeding the new media with aerobic bacteria.

I'll leave this here for the guys who know more:)

Yes it works, just give it 3 or more weeks.
PS I’ve done it with Matrix, not lava stone

Thanks, I thought it should work.

I have Matrix currently running in the Tidal. I just want to replace the biorings with lava rock:thumbup:

    Thanks for the message.

Cool. I’ve also added Stability for the first week, just to be on the safe side...

If you had an old school corner filter you could put the seeded media in there, but this way should work fine too.
