I also love the look. Makes everything look natural and sort of blends the Scape in my opinion.

I am in the thoughts that algae would outcompete plants for nutrients so it's best not to have any. I scraped a chunk of it out and made a few small changes to the tank with hopes that I can manage it a bit better. Maybe I am wrong in my thoughts though

As long as it is just a little, I am sure you will be cool. You also have to keep it low or else it will overrun

I actually get a lot of BHA on the cichlid tank, and clean the plants etc, and most off from the rocks.
But I see they like chewing it off the rocks so I always leave a little for them to mess around with
And they like taking bites of off the Valis Gigantis as well, so they get their veggies in.....

I think the main thing is controlling it to how you like it

Thank you for this and you are right. I think I just went into panic mode. I have it all a clean now and changed water. It came off so easily. Will upload some pics

My smart WiFi plug came in the delivery. It's so exciting being able to sit at the couch and control my lights. Also has a sunrise to sunset feature which is basically 13 hours currently. Going to use it manually configured to my needs

The tank looks really awesome! I love it!

Just one thing, how does the pump for the waterfall pick up sand? And when it drops the sand does it drop it where it can pull it up again?

Thank you so much @T. Guppy

Sand is collected at the middle where the greenish long pipe is sticking out of. So at the T piece that it's sticking out of I had made an incision and inserted a plastic in an angle. What this does is allow water to pass through under that plastic and past the hole on the t piece, this creates a suction which pulls sand in from that hole and sand and water is then mixed and comes out together from the last elbow you see in the pic. I've built a stone collage to hide that last elbow which looks down and is just a few cm away from the sand intake hole. It hits off the rock and back into the pit which the sand is collected from again.

Hope I make sense to you

I knew I did an illustration on this site, turns out it was to @Whoknows haha. I will attach the pics now here for better understanding

Dark orange is water alone. As it passes through the green pipe it pulls in sand and then purple is sand and water up the pipe and light orange is sand returning back into the input. I think this is a way better explanation lol.

Below is the incision I've done on the T piece. This was the only tricky thing in all of this build.

You are welcome, there is an easier way with just an airstone and pvc pipe with airline tubing and one elbow only, the issue i had was that it requires 1 inch pvc and i had bought half inch. Let me know if you wanna attempt i will share my experience on that

@A new day please can i have some advice.
I currently have 2 X 9W T5 bulbs. I am been told that i need to up my lighting, i have 4 more of the same wattage and light, its just 3 are purple and 1 is white like the ones on there.

Do i need to up my lighting really or is the store trying to upsell me ?
if i add all the 9w together does it work that way in the watt per gallon (i have 2 9w thats 18w and adding all 6 together will makes it 54W.)
i can order better lights but like i already have these and wanna make sure i am not being ripped off. I mean i just found out the "Anubias" i bought on the driftwood is actually amazon sword. LOL i feel so much in the dark!

@Shabir on the pics I don’t see an obvious issue with the lighting, considering that you’re doing low tech and easy plants.
