About 3 weeks ago I set up a new tank with live plants and have had it running since then.

This afternoon to my surprise I found a snail resting on one of the leaves of the plant.

Could someone please try identify it and is it healthy for the tank and future fish?

    Thanks

    Agreed with above.

Although it may be a lone snail, some species of Lymnaea are known to be capable of self-fertilization, which means you may see eggs/more snails soon. This isn't a problem for your fish, but the snail population may grow to pest proportions. As a bonus, they do consume some forms of algae, as well as clean up excess food in the tank.

It's up to you if you feel it belongs in your tank.
