    2 weeks came across some baby festea or true red terrors. This is one of my favourite fish and have never forgiven myself for selling them. The store only had 6 5cm fish would have preferred 12 to get a pair, but who know maybe I am lucky. In the past I could only sex them at around 10-12cm but they look all male. After a 2 week quarantine I added 5 off them to ray tank and 1 got beaten badly so it is healing up in filter. Statistically the odds of not getting at least 1 pair out of 6 fish is very low (1.5 % if my maths is correct) unless there are other contributing factors such as the store only buying one sex or when being bred if pH or temperature play a role in the sex determination.

    They look great.

    okay cool
    hopefully the stats in my favor, sadly with central american cichlids killing each other while breeding always a reality so having spare female always great

    @MariaS pretty sure they will grow quickly, I am just hoping with larger tank size they will stay peaceful

    @top dog

    Very nice
    Hopefully you have a true pair.

    If there are multiple males I am assuming you will have to remove the excess?

    thank you
    if a pair forms i assume i will have to remove the pair, for my rays safety and rest of the mob. All male or all female could work long term but will have too see.

    I could never get cichlids and my Rays to play nicely.
    Even relatively mild mannered ones like Uaru.

    I tried various cichlids with my Rays, and it didn't work. Even relatively mild mannered types such as Uaru.
    I found that the cichlids would peck at the Rays almost constantly and stress them. The cichlids possibly thought they were a patch of moving sand and just wanted to investigate. my hystrix were a similar colour to the substrate.) Probably more out of curiosity than malice
