There are some people who think this lockdown is a free holiday. Things are not as simple as what it’s been presented last night I think. If you can continue to work remotely, do so. There will be significant ramifications for our economy, I’m afraid.

My one lecturer refuses to use technology as he said that it's useless. Now that everything is going to be online for the rest of the year this should be interesting.

I study online all the time, so nothing's changed for me. It would have been nice to have some time off before exams though :/

For every economy in the world.

I saw some figures mentioned re what the final cost of this is going to be.
    Quite frightening.

What people are not realising though is that money does not just disappear. In order for people to become poor someone on the other end of the scale needs to get wealthier.. It was Winston Churchill who said "Never let a good crisis go to waste"

Not sure I agree with that.
The stock markets have dropped alarmingly.
And as a result, the value of my pension will also be a lot lower

However I do think that this crisis will present opportunities, and if one is astute, one could do well from it

WHat part don't you agree with. Where has the money gone? Into thin air? Or was it created out of thin air in the first place. That is how capitalism works. Demand and supply. It is basic economics..

    Yep. Slow progress.
The hubby is very surprised that I’m sticking it out as I normally have zero frustration tolerance for this type of thing. Think I’m just trying to prove a point at the moment

I think you'd have to be naive to not realise there is money being made in this situation. Just fascinating that 3 generations who have openly fought for ideals have tossed those very same ideals in the trash within a week. By design or coincidence that is a hugely overlooked characteristic of the situation. 3 months ago if you had called for lockdown people would have labeled you a communist or a fascist. Now if you so much as hint at the ramifications you are victimised. That's some massive shift in mentality. An opportunity for some too, you could say.
But that is where I will leave it, stay safe people and sanitise!

I think the most economically vulnerable will suffer most (as per usual), not necessary immediately but there may be an increase in unemployment by the end of the year, as employers can’t afford to pay employees. Despite the measures put into place to avoid it. And that type of thing is the last thing our country (or any country) needs, for various reasons including social uprising.

Scorched the fat out of some old gas braai rock. Will be fun to play with! Once it's dried I'll sort it and start planning a rescape or two :)

Would love to but seems my company are using money to obtain a letter to stay open. Greed ruling over common sense as usual..

Can't wait to see what the rocks eventually turn out to be
