I decided to break down and move my tank and sump last week because I was sick of having buckets and pipes all around the lounge every weekend. So it’s been on my mind.

I might also recommend a quarantine tank. I had to treat my main tank a few weeks ago for ick. Much cheaper to treat 60l than 300! Don’t worry it doesn’t count towards how many tanks you have ;)

I see another fishroom om the horizon:lol:.... resistance is futile:thumbup:
Put a barrel (preferably insulated if possible, so it can be heated) outside for water prep / dechlor, run a pipe through the wall, up the back of the aquarium, add a small fountain pump to barrel to fill the aquarium... Long hose to a drain (as @top dog suggested) or out into garden for syphon and there you go.

    I like that barrel idea.
How long can you leave water in a barrel like that so it stays safe to use?

I don't think there is a problem if you leave it for long periods of time, if you are conditioning the water, add an airstone or simply put a t-piece in the pump line with an extra tap going back into the barrel to keep the water circulating.
