Yea! Currently my favorite shrimp to watch. But they are so shy so getting good pictures of them all together is rare.

Luckily got this one last night:

Hey @Gamma , I am going to start keeping shrimp soon again, I was just wondering about mulberry leaves, we have lots of trees on the farm but in winter there are no fresh leaves, was thinking of collecting some now, boiling and then drying or freezing them to use later, what would you suggest?

Mulberry is very easy, pick the nice ones you want. Make sure they are pest free and just leave them in a well ventilated place to dry out. Once dry drop them in a ziplock bag for later use.

No need to boil or anything fancy, and can just drop them in a tank when you want to use them. They might take a couple of hours to sink when you drop them in but shrimp don't care.

So for those that might not have noticed yet, there is a new Sponsor on the forum, so I now no longer have to fear the banhammer if I mention any products haha. If you guys are looking for anything shrimp related go check it out, as I can now post some cool things there that I previously could not share on this thread :)

So... I have been ignoring the shrimp room for the majority of the weekend, as I had other things to do and really did not feel in the mood to do waterchanges... (Even if it only takes 30min for 30 tanks) But I had to pop in tonight to feed a couple of the tanks that need daily feeding and did a quick check in all the tanks to see if everything is ok.

    And then I spotted this:
    20200504_224749.jpg

Berried Cardinal Sulawesi Shrimp. I may or may not have shouted like a little girl for a second. Sat in front of the tank for a good 30min, and to my surprise it looks like I have a total of 3 possible berried shrimp at the movement.
Totally caught me off guard, as I thought the tank might still be too immature for breeding, but hey. Not going to complain.
Also looks like the extra light I had on the tank to grow algae was slightly unplugged, so fixed that too.
Based of that it looks like they are indeed a bit light sensitive, but need high light for algae. Nothing that 2 timers can't fix haha

Now I just want to setup second tank for them with some new substrate that just came into SA, but the damn lockdown is killing my vibe.

Feeding a bunch of stuff but some of the main foods I feed during the week:
    • Shirakura - Ebi Dama
    • Skyfish Aqua Snowflake / Art of Aqua Snowflake food (Probably the thing I feed the most)
    • Bacter AE
    • Shrimp Baby
    • Fresh Veggies : Baby marrow, spinach
    • And then whatever random food I am testing.
Wrote a nice little guide on what shrimp food is good/bad/Amazing a while back, needs a bit of a update as there is some new stuff available, but should already help those wanting to get some new shrimp food or just feed beter:

    Quick update.
I might have gone Sulawesi mad. Bought more, bred more, added more tanks
Hoping that in 6 months I have 4 tanks of them.
Also trying some new substrate, so far it looks cool, if it works is another topic.

Rest of the shrimp room is sad. I would rather not comment haha.

It bit of a different type of upgrade I did today.
Yearly replace of membranes and filters, and added a 2nd membrane for a higher ratio of water. Pretty impressed!

Needs to rinse for an hour now before it gets hooked up back in the room.

Once that is done its water changes and trimming time! I Will post some pictures tonight of some of the new stuff I have been hiding.

Need to get a RO system going. Buckets to my water source becoming very time consuming. Might be installing very soon. Little bit more research required. Placement, Where to store water etc...
