Every time I want to post some updates... Something changes haha.

Guess I will start documenting again. New rack got delivered this week so looking forward to setup my dream rack.
Plan is to make it the most automated rack I can. With that in mind I have ordered some IoT switches that can be controlled remotely, measure power usage to get some info into how much power I actually use.

Rack will have 15x2ft tanks on.

It will replace one of my current racks, as one of the goals was to lift the bottom row of tanks from 5cm above the ground to 40cm above the ground (My back will tank me later).

End goal is to redo the entire 15 tanks that will go into the rack with Undergravel filters as they require no maintenance in the short term. Busy testing some fancy filters on them. Will post some results of them in the long term as well.

    Starting to take shape.

    Still need to :
    • Seal the wood
    • Figure out the plugs
    • Order Smart switches
    • Figure out the lights
    • Mount the side panels
    • Install the electric waterpoof boxes
And probably half a dozen things that I have forgotten...

And then I need to move the actual tanks....

    Another day...Another Update...

decking are finally sealed after I spent way too much time on them.

Busy with electricals at the moment but I have drastically underestimated how long it takes to wire up plugs...

Really nice to follow your updates here. Are you hooking up each tank to its own plug? Busy setting up similar and would appreciate your advice. Tx

I know how this goes - I feel like (actually, it really has been) I've been sealing the wood for my pond for a whole month already! Somehow between the time needed inbetween layers and then not having time to apply the next coat it just takes forever.

So the main reason for the plugs is that if I ever want to use heaters in future its not an issue.
Can also use it for anything else should the need arise.

At the moment I am doing whole room heating, but I started keeping some shrimp that need 28 degree water, so those def need a heater, and I had such a mission getting plugs to them, so just made the call to overspec and make sure there is plugs if I ever need them.

    Some good progress today!

Electrics are 95% done. Found out one plug is faulty so now I need to go buy a new one and replace it....
Lights are hooked up to the new controllers and working amazingly.
Plugs also have their own controller to measure the power draw of them seperate to determine costings for heaters/Pumps.

Two lights per rack (Including the bottom one at the floor). Hoping that in future I can use the space for more plants!
Can adjust the lights so it either runs 1 or 2. Still deciding what I will run but now I do have the option to do a bit higher light than normal.
On a photo it does not look like a big difference but you can definitely tell when you switch it on or off.

    Remaining tasks:
    - Decide if I want to add a rubber mat on each level for extra security.
    - Replace faulty plug
    - Build and fit the airloop
    - Move it into the shrimp room...

Hoping to do the big move next weekend!
