Hello all I got this 6 foot tank in December 2017... Really stunning setup came with proper steel stand and then got its own wooden cabinet and hood. Will post dimensions later. I decided go completely different then everyone else. I decided on keeping a colony of Tropheus bemba orange lake Tanganjika chiclids. I got them when they were between 2tot3cm in middle of November. I originally had them in a 2 foot grow out tank. Then got them a 4 foot and then this one 6 footer roughly 800 liters after pfs and rocks added probably 750 liters. I always wanted a rocks only tank and so pleased with it. I need to find more photos of the amazing bembas. But will post what I got on my phone currently. Want to post pics of all 3 tanks they have been in. I think I originally started with 10 lost 2 and gradually increased the collony to 33 bembas and 3 lelupi. In the process I lost a few of them. When I got the 4 footer I bought a 2nd hand dolphin c 1000 canister and in the rush I forgot the inlet did not have a fitting on and the fishes went into the cannister I think I lost 4 or 5 of them. Anyway. Here is the tropheus Effect 3.0... I will add more pics soon. Enjoy it... a58d3e9a936215510ebe2e6cefb145a4.jpgf9556bbf719fd22fa8b682bc9a417e9d.jpgeca78d0271127f9b9abab372f28f8e1b.jpg

The bacteria machine the heart of the tropheus Effect, is run by 1 x 1800lph sunsun pump and 1 x sobo 3000lph pump its nice and strong as the bembas enjoy strong flow.. I got 1 x 500 w heater 1 x 200w sicce heater and another 300w Temps are stable on around 24.5 degrees .d93c49ef819d905f913df39f18e8cecd.jpge9874e8b37747ceefdfe061bbf3a7588.jpg

This is what they will transform into within a few months. They are getting their yellow bands now and then it will change into this stunning orange color... a383b171ca456c8d5ea17cac9d332268.jpgee311fda0b3f6cdd354f4e70cc41e1a9.jpg

    They are absolutely stunning fish

Nothing wrong with a rock scape, planted tanks are stunning and have their value but I have also seen many rock/wood setups that look amazing
The theme goes with the fish
Think you going to need more rocks in that big tank!!

Thanks MariaS, I acctually did add a few more rocks in newer recent photos, must just find the pics on my phone lol. Yes I like to try and keep the species of fish in a tank similar to their natural enviroment.. :)

Will definitely do that want to up the tank temps when the heat is here to stay as higher temps between 28 and 29 speeds up growth......:)

How is the tropheous with regards to aggression compared to other cichlids? I had malawis a number of years ago and the fact that i needed a separate hospital tank permanently running for the beaten up ones was such a mission.

Hello @mjmza so far they are chilled remember one thing which is always best rather get fish all the same size like get them from a breeder so they grow up together and get a nice big colony I got 33 Tropheus bemba orange and 3 lelupi , wish I took more of them... there is not really any hectic aggression with my tropheus they all get along very well.....that is why I went the Tanganyika route as everyone has got malawis, they are a very active and lively chiclid always keeping me entertained....
