In the process of coverting my tank into a smaller tank I had to use a few domestic products. I used thinners to remove perminent marker marks and alcohol to soften the silicone.

Is it safe to use silicone remover without ruining your sela or will it remove all silicone?

Once setup can I use active carbon to make sure the water is right since I can't test for chemicals?

@Innocent159 , i have never built a tank so am no expert however i would be a bit reluctant to use silicone remover as if it touches your silicone it could weaken it in those spots and become a problem later
When they built our tank, the guy used a very sharp blade to clean out the extra silicone

I dont think the carbon will do any harm.
Once the silicone is set, give the tank two or three rinses
