So I have 4 tiger barbs in my 100L tank they all seem fine except for one that tends to hang out behind the filter alone from the rest. She doesn't seem sick, her colours aren't faded, and the water parameters are Ok. She only does this during certain times of the day, sometimes she's alone vertically next to the filter or behind it and other times she is fine and swimming with the group or getting chased by the bigger male. Is she sick? Please help!

That is normal behaviour, most of my tiger barbs do this when lights go out. It is their chilling/sleeping position. I would add another 3 of them they do better in bigger groups trust me on this.

Wow 70? that's a lot, how big is your tank? They only have small ones at my LFS, would that matter? Also I would really like to breed, as I already have a male and a female, how hard is that gonna be?

Yeah 70 Tiger barbs and then 12 Odessa barbs and 5 Black ruby barbs, go and check out my site I received over 45000 views in 1 year.

That would not matter if they are small they know they own kind so they will be fine. Breeding them I know it is possible but this has not bothered me yet.

Cannot help you with this @Tigerbarb has apparently bred them with luck before.

They eat anything :) I vary my food now and then sometimes I give them Ocean Nutrition Tropical flakes, Sera flakes and Tetra bits. Also like to treat them with bloodworms once a week or any other frozen fish food.

What do you think of that BIG group of BARBS of mine?

Thanks man, will be adding more plants tonight I got a serious case of collectoritus :) Yeah most of them are grown full size their are a couple of them that is still tiny which I got a few months ago.

Yeah you must see how awesome it looks like when I move in front of the tank the BIG group all follow me to either the left side or right side of the tank even if you just walk past the tank.

Will ask my wife to take a photo will post it on my thread sometime.

Can I please enquire why you say they prefer larger schools?

I currently have 3 in my tank, They are fairly large fish, so my plan was to not get any more of them. But I am curious as to whats the pros & cons are.

In the wild, they are found in large shoals
Part of their social interaction is they tend to squabble with each other.
The larger the group, the more this is spread out, and one or two fish don't get picked on.

Also, with a larger group, it is more likely this squabbling will be among the Barbs, and they are less likely to start picking on the other fish in the tank
