Hey, guys so since my Oscar setup has now turned into a low-tech setup (lol) I have been dosing with Scape Complete and Liquid Carbon on a daily basis. But I have a question since it is a low-tech setup with only Anubia's and Java Fern.

So my question is the dosing states every single day, but since I don't have so many plants and none of them are high-tech plants and slow growers I assume they don't absorb the same amount of nutrients as high-tech plants.

So I still follow the same dosage as per the bottle or can I dose every other day? EA once every second day?

I use the Seachem equivalents so don’t have direct experience with Scape line. But would say that you can half the dosage under your circumstances. See how it goes.

Personally I would still dose daily, just a lower dosage. Having said that, I’ve been easing off ferts on most of my tanks (skipping days etc) to see how it goes.

But with something like Liquid Carbon my gut feel is that consistency would be beneficial. I.e. smaller dose daily (in the morning).

Yeah, Scape Carbon ill dose as per instruction since I don't have Co2 I was thinking of dosing the ferts every second day. I don't know if plants like Anubia absorb nutrients slower than high tech plants due to their slower growth.

I stopped using liquid carbon due to it's nature as a preservative and so on, but can definitely get away with less ferts.

Yep the likes of anubias definitely don’t need a high powered ferts regime such as would be necessary for demanding stems etc.

Personally I would dose complete twice a week and thats it. The oscar should produce enough waste for those plants and the complete will only really be for the micro nutrients

Yes coming to think about it, I actually only ever dose micros (Seachem Flourish or Flourish Advance). Does Scape Complete contain the macros as well (NPK)? I don’t dose those at all.

I use them both on my puffer tank. But I only dose when I see the plants looking a bit yellow or after I do a water change. But I do 4 pumps of each bottle. But the substrate is langa aqua soil that I've had in the tank for over a year.

Agreed with @TheGrissom . The Oscar will keep most of your macro ferts quite high, so the Scape will mostly be to supply the micros. Anubias is really prone to algae, so i'd keep up the dosing of Liquid Carbon, even in lower amounts. Try 2 week long experiments and see how it goes

Yeah, I want to keep dosing the Liquid Carbon to keep the algae off the Anubia. I also try and clean then by hand every now and then. I even used a bleach/water mix that cleaned them nicely.

They are much cheaper than Seachem for the same volume and I have heard good things about them.
