Why are my new malawies swiming crazy

    Good Evening.

    Trust you all are well, please need sum advice added new fish to my tank but they seem to be swimming up and down along the glass is that normal??? They used to be in a small tank at the petshop. I now have them in a four foot all pare meters are fine pH and nitrates and ammonia loosing my marbles.

    I am not a Malawi expert however,If you added them only today, you acclimated them properly and ou sure your parameters are fine, then it could be a bit of stress from being with new tank mtes, the extra space, etc.. and they just need to settle
    Switch off your lights to reduce stress and give them a good night's rest so they can settle

    Not sure what test kit you used but if it was the strips and they still doing it tomorrow, maybe better to take a sample of water to the LFS and let them do a liquid test

    Hope all goes well and they settle

    First question is......do you have some sort of rock pile in your tank?
    Malawis tend to form territories around that

    A photo of your setup would be helpful.

    It's perfectly normal...... African Cichlids do this when they are introduced in a new tank. I don't know the reason for it... I know there is a reflection of themselves on the glass.... Possibly stress from transferring them from the sellers tank to their new home.... Maybe they are scared of the other fish.... I don't know...... But Usually they settle in a few hours..... Hopefully they are okay by now.... If not let us know....
