Have you tested amonia before using?

My AmAlerts used to always turn green after a water change, now I treat the water, and only after 2 - 3 days is the AmAlert in my drum yellow (safe).
Don't forget to treat for amonia, Centurion water has high amonia levels.

Not sure in that situation, mine were not in any spray, and were totally dried out before they hatched.

If you want to not suck up sand, then get one of those thick tubes use for cleaning from a lfs, the sand should suck up, but then fall out again....
