    Hi guys,

    Fiddled around with my new T5 ballast this evening, but I havent been able to source the correct wiring. I need 0.5 - 0.75mm SOLID CORE wiring. (Not the stranded wiring). Does anyone know where I can source approximately 20 meters of this wiring?

    @Lizid
    @Sean J
    @hein24
    @Vez

    Thanks.

    i got some from a local electir suplies shop, so you should not have a problem finding it. Just make sure you dont go over max lenght of wire from ballast to globe, usually specified on the ballast (+- 1m)

    @Zoom i had the same problem finding that wire i think its called panel wire or something ,and the only place i could find it was an electrical wholesaler down here,they wanted me to take a 100m role(actually i should have who new how many tanks i would end up with).i was told by an electrician i could substitute it with rip cord (the normal twin wire you see on your lamps ect) this is what i used except you got to tin the ends up nice and neat for the ballasts to take in and lock on.it works and i havent had any problems in 6 months. anyway just an option.

    Thanks @Singularity . Will give the wholesalers a call in the morning. Trying to avoid buying a whole roll.

    I tested one ballast and tube on 0.5mm stranded wire. The tube just flicked on and then off.

    Ive researched the length of wires. My "hot wires" need to be <1m and my "cold wires" need to be <2m.

    voslov scwabe ballast? (or something like that ?) they are very very finicky. I had loads of problems with those like lighting up for a few seconds then switching off etc. . . Got some osram ballasts and they worked first time every time.

    I used the panel wire on the same ballast as yours Ashley. Just make sure that they don't move at all once you've installed it. Constant bending causes them to break inside the covering. I changed mine to normal flex after a while. You can even put a little solder on the ends, works just as well.

    The problem with the flex wire + solder is that it won't fit in the ballast. Will see what the wholesaler says....

    Ballasts come from @Dolphin. Tridonic Dual 39w

    Hi Zoom

    I used 0.5mm rip cord for my T5's.
    I stopped at my electrical wholesaled for .5mm "bootlace" glands or lugs that I crimped on the ends to make it work nice and tidy.

    I can send you some pics if you like, just PM me.

    Got the proper wire from a wholesaler in randburg. They were prepared to sell per meter, and not in a 100m roll!

    Works perfectly!
