Yea, if you going co2 you can get splitters for 4 tanks so one C02 system can power 4 tanks and you could have two "lower tech tanks", you can build up over time, just maybe get the stand for 6 tanks, or you can do four 2ft and one 3ft? with the 3ft it could open up possibilities for fish that require a little bit more space. you could look at these aqueal tanks https://pethabitat.co.za/Product/1180 they come with lights, heaters, filters and hoods and they seem like good quality. i dont know anyone who has used them so i cant comment how good they are. but mcMerwe did a review

lol that sounds like fun, i know that the leddy is a bit more expensive but the quality of the tank looks vastly better than those standard 2ft tanks and the lids looks well thought out. so it may just look better if you are concerned about the overall looks of the setup.

I've never had more than vallisneria in my tanks and I managed to get it to grow pretty good. Of course now I want to do a nice planted set up in a 600x500x500 and will keep a whole list of nicer plants. But my knowledge is zero haha

I am sure you will have access to vastly superior stuff than us, so it could be a lot easier to setup a successful planted tank.

This is my first planted tank thats a success, tried 3 times before, IMO it boils down to Light and substrate

@oupoot in my 65L I have cherry shrimp and 3 small nerites (2 horned and 1 olive). They keep the tank sparkly clean! Also a few trumpet snails, pond and ramshorns but they’re not going crazy in this particular tank.

A bit anecdotal but I’ve heard of instances where a hungry adult assassin snail went for nerites, so you gotta keep them wel fed if you want to try that combo. I’d be hesitant to do so.

I have ottos in the jungle tank, they’re very cute and you can keep them in a 2 foot. You’d need at least 3, ideally more, as they’re schooling fish. The issue with ottos is that they’re mostly wild caught and internal parasites can be an issue. Choose ones with full bellies that look active in the tank and are clearly eating.

Photo of all the tank inhabatins, some blurry due to the fish not sitting still

2 of the white clouds have been pea cocking around the tank, opening up their fins with the tips going a bright orange\red

Shrimp babies I counted a few, most of them being blue and one being transparent still, find them in the photos if you can lol

The asassin snail has devastated my pest snails population in the last week, really impressed with how hard working the oak is

One of the older Anubias leaves is getting holes in it, at this stage not sure if its phospahe issues or just dying out

Keep an eye on your shrimp once the assassin snail finishes with the pest snails. I just saw a scary video someone posted on their assassin chomping on their shrimp!

The Anubias in the pics are in great health. I’d say just trim away that old leaf

Wow that tank is looking amazing. For some reason something wiped out my whole snail population. Including the assassins. I noticed a slight smell in the tank and went searching for everyone and there was no dead fish. Decided to do a water change and sand vac and pulled out about 30 MTs shells and my one assassin snail, the other one is missing so I could have sucked him out and did not realise. The fry tank was the same, the one assassin I had in there too was dead. Maybe the quick change in my pH going down from 7 to 6.4 played a part..
Fish are all good. Had 2 spawns this week so really cannot understand
