It is a stunning tank, well Troyfish I think a nice rock feature (Smallish mountain) in the middle with plants planted around it would look pretty nice with a black substrate...

Dont want to go the planted route any more, after my little mishap....s

Rock feature sounds good, Malawi is awesome! Maybe those two together could work?

What filtration you going to be using on the tank .. think that could influence what fish you want in it also ...

i.e. That is the perfect size for some goldfish but you would need some serious filtration.

Troy are you going to buy a canister filter for it?
    Or build a sump?

I'd go mild planted with some schooling fish.

Ok if it was mine. I would make that thing full of driftwood.
Some small and some big, with ones going high and the other staying low.
Will then scape the whole thing using a few anubias and 3 types of moss.

I have even got a better idea. Give the tank to me so I can show you :)
Will be able to create an awesome under water mystery log forest. Man I will have ferries moving in within a week.

Interesting VIS - so let me see if I understand this correctly .. no substrate, a powerhead to create loads of circulation to keep the base clean .... love it ..

You got it F-Fish. Would most likely have to keep some softwater fish.
Wish I could show you the pic in my head :)

I want to go with a sump here but have a problem, I think.

The tank was drilled for a canister filter. 4 Holes in total.
I cannot use any of the holes for a over flow as it is too high up.

    My questions are:
Can another hole be drilled? If so will this not make the back pane weak due to the other holes?

Could I use the existing holes to siphone the water down or will this run a risk of flooding?

Is a sump better than a canister filter?

    P.S

And yes even after all this time it still isnt set up lol

I was suggested not to siphon because of power and flooding. A sump I believe holds more water and therefore would be better in the long run. Please feel free to correct me.

Just had to make this one lol

The holes are about 1/4 blocked by the bracing and about 3 or 4cm from the top.

P.S the height is 60cm. Was told 50 but i think that was the waterline

ok so a simple thing to do would be to make a gutter at the back of the tank - one gutter that spans the full back width. This will mean that the holes are the "overflow" into this gutter then just have a down pipe in the base of the gutter that runs to your sump. (could always make a small gutter plus down pipe from each hole set - that way if one gets blocked you are still ok ) I'd look at making the gutter from glass and add it to the tank with some silicone. Making a gutter allows for some options like a sponger filter or net before the down pipe to stop leaves and fish from landing in the sump.

Hope this makes sense ? But check glass thickness and tank support if you move the water level up to 56cm ...

For canister - do the pipes fit through the obstructed holes ? Cause then you can use as is left one for the feed to the canister and right the return. the other two holes for power cord heater - and lights.

Maybe consider moving the brace if the holes are ok for the canister.

That sounds like a great idea! Wow! Lol i never thought about that thanks!.
My concern is that the water level will be dangerously high:eek: risks?

I dont have a canister filter so wouldnt know lol
The previous owner had a canister filter in.

Moving the brace may seem impossible lol, plus i wont be trying that!
