I have 4 large tiger barbs that need a new home. They are complete characters and have out grown the thank they call home.

It kills me to do this as I'm really fond of them but I don't think it is fair to keep them in the tank they are currently in.

Ideally I'd like to swap them for plants or fish but if there are no offers I'll consider any good home.

They get on really well in my community tank with tetras, they don't nip fins but perhaps that has to do with fish they are grouped with. They are voracious feeders and they eat pretty much anything that they can force down their throats.

They'd probably make good breeders. I have no interest in breeding them.

If you want them PM me, I'll deliver within reason (Northern burbs - JHB), or you can collect.

They are about 7-8 cm long.

    Pics of the hogs attached.

120 litre, I think they need to be with bigger fish or more active fish in a bigger tank the are really active. They dominate the the food and the environment.

I want a more chilled vibe in my tank.

    I can offer you
    1 red eye
    3 silver tip
    3 pristella
I think that these fish will best suit your current setup.
I will also suggest you add a few more serpae tetra. Sorry I don't have any.
You will have to come to Alberton if you interested.

Cheers, time is a bit tight for me at the mo so Alberton might be a bit of a stretch. I'll give it some thought - fair offer otherwise. Not keen on another red eye so you can keep him.

I am looking for a couple more serpae tets but haven't found any in the same size or quality as the ones I have now.

I'll give you a shout closer to the weekend, I need to collect something from the airport at some point so if I have time I'll see if I can swing South.

How long did it take for the tiger barbs to reach that size? More or less?

Probably about a year. Maybe a bit less. They grew really fast and they were small when I bought them
