Not much to tell. Got a 4ft and stand, so I'm moving all my fish in the 3ft over to the new 4ft. Tank: 120X45X45 - 243l Substrate: PFP fertilized with Nutrifeed Capped with Pool Filter Sand Light: 2X 54W 6500K T5's (for now) Filter: Aquaclear 300 HOB and Some internal thing (Temporary - will make sump or DIY Canister) Heater: 300W Eheim Jager Ferts: DSD hardener and Plant feeding mix CO2 - Bio Carbon - Will soon start using carbonated water 8) Low Tech The canopy will also be here soon. I also bought a new 3ft tank to replace the old one - this will become a river tank in a week or two - harr harr. I got loads of plants from Trevor Pleco (Thanks). I know you can't see it, but there is 12 Java fern rhizomes in there I will make a plant list once everything is healthy and visible. I have a feeling the water will be brown in a day or two. But I'll deal with it. And just to add - I used a lot of ML Special Blend and used a well cycled filter - so everything is fine. The photos looks very pale - the quality was reduced when i uploaded it. No editing.
Thanks. I don't have a proper plant for it yet, but I will use two pieces of gutter (one for each light). The white will be a nice reflector and will also cover the light nicely. I want to try make it open top (so the canopy don't close the top of the tank) but will still see.
@SloMo.00 have a good design for a canopy for you then lol..... its a shlep to die the mention thing with your name!
Ha ha. He is doing the rimless design route. So maybe the Nano's light wil work for him then? Obviously longer. Maybe I must change my name to SloModotdoublezero? Ha ha ha. @Ryno
then i might never try and do a mention again :listen: yes i think the nano's light will work perfectly and its a good design. @Razer2007
@Razer2007, I made a light for my Nano Quarantine tank. I used pvc pipe and some other goedies. I'm using my phone to post now so I apologise for not showing you the light. It is under my post. "My planted quarantine tank"
Update. I got a Eheim 2217 Canister, CO2 and a new light unit (same wattage as previous lights). The PFP and wood is leeching badly so I got some purigen and put it in the filter. The CO2 is still set on slow until the blackwater is cleared and the light can be fully used. Most plants has grown a lot, like the Hygro, L. repens, and moss. I've never seen my L. repens grow like this. Tank doesn't look good with the blackwater but hopefully it will be cleared soon.
@Razer2007,I see Schalks' equipment is put to good use. Do some big water changes to help clear the water. The purigen will work but you can help it along.
Big difference in thinking what is a good filter when you eventually get a canister filter, i never thought i would pay more money on my filter than what my tank cost me hehe, but i understood about the moment i opened the box, i dont care about a sump anything canisters are good enough. must say nice setup. the rocks give it a good balance with the wood. and you lucky ###### on that buy with the co2 and everything!
Yep that was a massive bargain. And I got loads of extra stuff as well. The filter is amazing and once you are used to how it's maintenance works, then it's a dream.
