how bout you guys post a lil update on the feesh,
do you have fry yet
how are midas coming along
no fry as of yet but i think soon, midas are nice and bulky, actually outgrew the dovii, growing out the jag fry aswell and they seem to be doing great. will post pics of the rest,
hows your dovii pair @top dog
get pics going love to see how they all doing
midas and jags still recon the jags dad was best jag i have ever seen in the flesh hope babies come out as thick
man had a real shit run with dovii
went threw some firing and suspending guys at my work shop and somehow tank got turned off for the weekend witch killed the pair, jhb winter temp dropped down to 7 when i got to work on monday
then my small female was killed buy small male in 5 foot tank over the last weekend
so when you have fry you will have the only pair in SA
thats horrible man, i also lost a bunch of those smaller dovii i got from micheal, due to heating, only left with one female, but as i suspected the female performed nicely.
Very cool guys
doubting if effort i put into this hobby is worth while after the run i have been having
fish looking great
must def try arrange a batch of dovii fry when you come rite with them
might still have a female in batch i got but more i have the better the odds
There will always be doubt i think but the reward outweighs the effort, got home now and found bout 150 dovii wriglers. Also i picked out four younger dovii to grow out and one seems to be female, id say 10cm tl at this moment
Mooi man lekker
feel like sending her down to me?
Seems about time for an update - the Oscars are somewhere between 25 and 30cm each.
@top dog im actually trying to head up jhb side soon, trying to get time to go pickup a setup from micheal when this happens il gladly drop the lil lady of by you
@Chris_H flippen nice setup, i like your gt male,
Thank the GT is still small, about 5 CM max... so its hard to tell yet but I am thinking that both may actually be female - my LFS just got some GTs in yesterday and I showed them two males to hold on for me for a couple of days as they are REALLY dull and I want to see if they color up after a few days with less stress.
the last pic were the gt is slightly blurry id lean towards male, gt in second last pic is female for sure, but i could be wrong, pics can be deceiving
They can be very deceiving indeed
@Chris-H, beautiful tank... amazing what can be achieved even without plants. Very inspiring for those of us that battle with plants due to the fish we keep.
The GT's are nice but I drooled over those Oscars of yours..... Are they a breeding pair?
Thanks @MariaS I will take some photos of the whole aquarium, you saw about half of it in those pictures. The Oscars are about a year old and I have not vented them yet. If I look at how much they fight then I guess they are the same sex - although the vent areas do look a little different bulge-wise. The red Oscar grew faster than the tiger, but the tiger has now out grown the red again. The red is always flaring gills at the other one and looks for fights when I put the light on at night. In one of the pictures you can see a gash above the left eye (on the edge of the grey part of the red's head O) where they had a brawl over the weekend. During the day while the light is off they are best friends though and never fight...
