Hi, any forum members here that breeds corydoras?

I need some advice please, I have 1 large female, she is pretty plump so I suspect se is full of eggs, and i have 3 male corydoras,

How do i get them to breed? I have tried the adding 40% colder water change method, reducing light etc, bit nothing is happeing no eggs anywhere.

    Its Bronze corydoras.

Generally Bronze Corys breed on their own, so give it enough time and they should do their thing. However, let me do some quick research and I'll get back to you

Okay, the males should have slightly pointed ventral fins. The male will clean a spot on the glass, do his thing and the female will then press the eggs against it. Same with the plants. The temperature should be about 75 degrees (whatever that is in Celsius) and a cold water change is normally the trigger, but not always required. There could be a number of reasons why they aren't spawning, predator in the tank, too much interference, water parameters aren't satisfactory et cetera. Just keep at it and se how it goes

I'd put them in their own tank and as @F1refly mentioned waterchanges (some days after each other) with cooler water triggered mine. You'd remove either the eggs or the parents otherwise they'll eat their own eggs. The eggs will hatch within 5-10 days.
Take care you've food available (starting 3 days after hatching). I used a kind of breeding-food (powder) and decapped brineshrimpeggs. You'd " overfeed" so the fry finds its food easily. Therefor daily waterchanges.
I made a bucket water ready a day before so it had the same temperature as the tanks. Mine first batch didn't make it (of a lot of people it didn't). Don't know why.
If so : try again !! It's great fun.

The day / night before spawning they will swim very busy along the glass and "clean" some spots.

You're welcome. Please realise (good) food and waterchanges (keeping pollution by overfeeding" down) are pretty important.
You'll succeed : bronze aren't that difficult as mentioned !!!

Keep us informed and place some pics.

    Cheers,
    Aad

My Cory sterbai lay eggs now and then.
But they are in a community tank, so the eggs get eaten pretty quickly.

I would love some sterbai corys, there is one LFS here that has but paying R70 each is a bit much for me.

Sterbais are bred here quite often. Same treatment as the others to my believe!

@DoubleDutch, i am still trying, no eggs yet :( . If i post pics of my corys can you try to confirm male/female? I suspect i have 1 female and 3 males looking at the net and my corys. I have had them for about 12 months now.

I moved them from my community tank to there own tank.
