awesome .. I can only hope the 90x60x60 I am after will look this good. What hight did you go with in the end? That is 10mm SF glass - wonder if you will see deflection .. please keep posting pics, it really does look awesome

@wrenchy, that is what I call a real stunner!!!! Looking marvelous!!!! SF glass just do it for a tank of that size. All of the best with the wait till the 9th of June.

Looks fantastic with that black silicone, I'd leave it open top if I was you. With some suspended lights and fish that hopefully won't be suicidal

yep. unfortunately, even the most calm fish can sometimes get spooked. i wouldnt risk it. but if you could somehow put some glass sliders on the tank, you would be able to get away with the same principle of the suspended fitting..

The theory is that they won't jump if the conditions are perfect, but that doesn't seem to be the case in practice.
What about a stealth net over the top of the tank? Just a simple aluminium frame with some black netting, that way it won't interfere with the lights and you can even feed the fish through it.

lol the theory is fine until you walk into the living room and find your bala shark flopping on the floor 2 meters away from tank hehe

so @wrenchy - made any decisions yet as to which way you gonna go?

How thick is your glass? Bracing is usually for longer tanks to stop the glass from bending under the pressure of the water.

@TheGrissom its 10mm SF glass, dont think it will bend!

@TheGrissom i think we've already established earlier in the thread that the 10mm glass used for this tank is more than sufficiently strong and to boot there is additional bracing on the bottom of the tank as well. this tank is seriously strong. a real beauty as well.

personally i think this tank would make a beautiful discus tank to hold a nice school of about 6 discus, at 60L required per fish, the water volume is sufficient and with such a high tank, it would compliment the tall / round shape and look of the discus.

and on this forum, you would have no shortage of GOOD advice on keeping such fantastic fish.

please note: any of my comments made on discus is subject to correction, as we have discus keepers on this forum with some serious knowledge of keeping these beauties and their knowledge far surpasses my own, which is in fact, gleaned mainly from this this forum.

one day when i'm big i think i'll keep discus :p

@wrenchy I'm currently thinking of making a net cover for my 50cm tank as well, because my White Clouds are dwindling in numbers. My guess is the cat eats them before they turn into fish biltong because I haven't seen any fish on the floor.
