    Now Cobus,

That sounds like an excellent idea, he looks like an excellent mate for Candice's girl.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

    Hello @Dirk,

    Thank you!

This is exactly what I was after :) Some fantastic info you have given me to work with... if the BDSS is indeed a male, he is superb in my opinion, growing rapidly compared to all the others, and perfectly round, with perfect eye to body ratio (from what I can tell with the little I have learnt thus far).. I am strictly limited to 3 tanks only (or I won't have a better half anymore)... so I plan to carry on with raising the RT babies, and will see what comes from that. If I am fortunate to gain a pair out of them, then thats great and I will deal with breeding at that stage.

I have the tank that they are being raised in now, to use as a breeding tank at a later stage, and then I am considering re-doing my 468lt and changing it to a Discus show tank, to ensure I give them all enough space once they have grown... I have plenty of time to do this while the RT babies are growing.

As for the pair that have spawned now, I am leaving everything as it is, and should it happen that they are male and female and fertile and they manage to get to hatching stage, then great, I know they will be eaten, but thinking about what you have said, either way they are not going to make it, be it if they are eaten before the time or after. I will do everything as usual in the tank and let nature take its course.

Thank you for all the info and assistance :)

    Candice
