1500 lph may be too small bud. For canister on that tank i would suggest nothing less than 3000lph

The general rule is 2.5 to 3 times the volume per hour.

    So I make that 2,000L/hr
I am assuming you will have big fish in a tank that size?
Which will be messy and produce lots of waste.

I would say the bigger/higher vol turnonver the better.

I once read an article by the prof regarding filtration. According to him, when buying a canister, one should ideally get one strong enough to filter 5x the total tank volume. This is because of a smaller media surface area. A sump on the other hand can filter 2 - 3 times the total tank volume.

    cool.

Actually you are right...It should be x5 your tank volume yes...But one can't have to much filtration

Totally agree with that. Over filtration is never bad.

I turn the water in my 120P at least 8 times an hour with my 2 canisters, can never have too much filtration, unless you are plastering the fish against the glass, thats too much...

Depending on what fish you have, some prefer a stronger water flow than others.

You can never have too much filtration? -Agreed, ...but filtration is not necessarily turnover volume.
Imagine you have a system turning over your tank volume 20-30 times per hour. What is that going to help?
You need a bacteria colony which is adequate for your tank, and the tank must feed these colonies. If there is nothing to convert, the colony is not going to grow, no matter how often you chuck the water through your filter ....

    Yup, I agree.
If with a turnover rate of 3 times, there is no ammonia and no nitrite, what is a turnover rate of 5 times going to achieve?
