There is also D.cistriflora, glabripes and capensis if you know where to look

There are approx 20 Drosera species, 2 Roridula & a handful of Utricularia species spread across SA

The pygmy Drosera from Australia are even smaller.

The son’s Venus Flytrap couldn’t be delivered in time for his birthday, and to make up for it Peter from Pan’s carnivores gave him a whole lot extra

All of this for R200! He said they’re just coming out of dormancy.

Please help us ID! There are 2 clumps of VFT, a sundew, a pitcher plant different to what he has, and one or two other things.

    The Sundew is Drosera binata

The short pitcher plant is Sarracenia purpurea.
The taller one is also a Sarracenia, but hasn't developed active pitchters yet, and it difficult to id. Will be easier to id as it develops some of these in the summer

And a Venus Fly Trap - Dionaea muscipula

We’ve put it in a sunny position in a saucer with rainwater, does this sound good? It is on the windowsill (bay window) in the son’s room but we could move it outside if that would be better?

I assume the pitchers would benefit from misting, but the sundews and venus fly trap probably not?

I think they will do better outdoors. Sarracenias & vft are temperate plants and don't like high temperatures, especially when dormant.

If you keep the pot in a wide dish of shallow water, the humidity should be sufficient. But misting won't be harmful to all

They love full sun, so long as they have water.

Hoping you guys could help check if these are still doing well 6 weeks down the line?

They get a lot of sun but protected from harsh afternoon sun. The one Venus fly trap (with flowers) looks in better shape than the other one whose traps are still small. Tips would be appreciated.

Also, now that the tall pitcher plant has developed new pitchers, would an ID be possible?
