Hello all, it has been a while. Lots has changed with me.

So a quick update. Last year in September I left the "shrimpless" shores of SA and have moved to the Netherlands. I left my 5 tanks behind too :'(

So after all the changes of finding a new Job and a new place to stay I was unable to start a tank (although i did buy a tank last November (too good a deal to refuse) :) So finally I have it running and cycling for 2 weeks. Here are some pics of the tank now after i modified it a bit:

    IMG_20140315_174606.jpg IMG_20140412_210617.jpg IMG_20140316_203044.jpgIMG_20140315_174634.jpg

It is a 25L tank with built in LED system and internal sump. The sump is useless as it came with just 1 compartment for heater and filter media. So i added a strip of plastic to the sump to get the waterflow past the heater to the bottom of the tank.

Then I updraded the filter to an eheim 300LPH pump and stuffed the second compartment with filterfloss and ceramics.

The idea on this tank is to have a High Ph and keep Cardinal shrimp.

    Plants so far:
    Glosso
    Mini spiral vallis
    Anubias Nana mini
Java moss (in the market for some weeping moss) when i can get my hands on it.
Crypt Parva (From an anubias range tub) 5 plantlets in the tub all have proceeded to melt away, hopefully the stems are still alive and will shoot some new leaves up soon.

    Regards
    Cheeky

Looks good. How are the prices over there compared to SA?

Wow! Exciting stuff happening in your life. Are you planning on keeping just shrimp? Other than the plants :D

Prices are more expensive here for livestock. Equipment especially eheim is WAY cheaper (made in Germany).

I want to put some chili rasboras in the tank but i first have to see if they can handle a 7.5-8 PH. Cardinal shrimp are 5-7.50 euro each so I dont really want to have them snacked on.

I have the same aquarium at home. Love the tank, only issue was that I couldn't find a big enough heater to fit into the compartment. I have a 25w in there but it doesn't cope in winter a 50w is too big and doesn't fit I also that there wasn't enough light to keep the glasso looking healthy, but then I do have the cover over it

@ThaneF: Sera makes a 50watt heater that would fit in there it is absolutely tiny.

Hey there, Tank is looking stunning BTW... Also loving the shrimp, are they standard Cherries? Love the little Pepper dwarf Corys, I've got some in my 1 4ft, they are always so busy, too cute...

Keep the updates coming, I'm keen to see how it's doing.

    Super looking tank.
And the dwarf Corries are great too - ideal for a small set up.
