Ferdie and did hear correctly, these LEDs are like R40 a strip?

 

Lol - how long is a strip.

So the short alu enclosed with 7x3x5630 LEDS - R35 rand. probably 20cm, 1 meter would be +-R75 also mounted etc.

When the first batch of 5360 landed the sheet that I have of unmounted 1 meter strips but 10 strips to a sheet was R40 per 1 meter strip.

Strip is the wrong word - count the LEDs 1m = 24x3x5630 in this context - density is different depending on LED orientation.

Well, today those strips (sheets) are more like R90-100- per m unmounted (at least in CT)
They run hot so you need to mount them on some Alu railing and are not waterproof either.
Medium/long term fading and high failure rate has been reported a plenty on the other forum to the point that members don't consider striplights as an genuine alternative when trying to grow carpets and more tricky plants (f-fish you have been part of those discussions).
I use them in low tech setups, they are not the golden eggs many thought they would be.
We are talking strip lights, individual LED lights used with drivers in DIY process are much better (and more costly). I guess you get what you pay for.

OK so at this point still not really viable... I am sure we will get there eventually!

 

@Reedfish yes they do but I think thats because we are all so used be being screwed that its now just accepted.

 

i think thats a gap in the market some one should fill. (Cheap LED lights for Aquariums) wink wink nudge nudge
