It depends on where the big bubnle comes from. If it comes of the ceramic disc it is normal and will go away. If it comes from the edge of the disk in one place, at the plastic ring that screws on, it might just need a tighter turn to make sure it is sealed properly. I am struggling to diffuse the CO2 ! Recap :Ferdie advised not to put directly in canister filter inflow. I quickly checked why ....thank you Ferdie I see it's a very bad idea. Bought 3 in 1 L Ista diffuser either giving big bubbles on side or popping of the line. So gave back and got Saga super diffuser. After one day running seemed blocked as no CO2 was getting through and after turning on a while later line pops of from Bubble counter. Solution I hope is CO2 supermarket in the UK. I bought these Large Mixer Reactor CO2 Diffuser A Mixer Reactor Diffuser uses the outlet from a filter or pump to mix CO2 directly with the water before entering the aquarium. The process works by mixing the CO2 and water at the top of the diffuser using dual impellers, which spin using the force of water entering the reactor. The outlet is located at the bottom of the reactor chamber, and therefore only fully diffused CO2/water exits the device because the CO2 will remain at the top of the unit it is fully diffused. The result is that near 100% CO2 absorption can be achieved. Planing on splitting outflow pipe from canister with turn valve installing this one as well and decide if I want mist effect or not. The SAGA Super diffuser needs to soak for at least 24 hours, before being used. I had the same issue, and thought it wasn't working. After a day or so it was spraying forth super fine bubbles.
I know many of us run single stage regulators and know that dumping is real, yet I have not lost a fish to CO2 in my thanks. Might be because some of them I run 24x7 then again others are on timers. What I do not have is a diffuser - but rather CO2 ladders. Maybe this is why I have never killed a fish with CO2 ? Later Ferdie
Yes. What I did after finding out it had to be soaked was to attach it as per normal, and about 24 hours later attached the tubing, and started using it. The LFS I got it from did not mention that it had to be soaked, and I replaced the first one I bought.
Side note self build pond with plants 4x3 and 1,2 meters deep giving no hassles . Using tank water inside to fill pond once a week 2 years old .
@Lysine . With the 3 in 1 , did you fill the unit with water before startup ? You should unscrew the top and screw it back on submerged in water .
Completely full . Best way is to do it . Is under water this ensures there's zero air inside , this will make it work 100%
My 3 in 1 diffuser did the same...made big bubbles when i first used it...figured it was dirty so i removed the ceramic disk and soaked it in hydrogen peroxide. 20min later i connected it again and fine bubbles were coming out. Does anyone know where to buy replacement discs ? Ask the store where I bought mine and they said I must buy a new diffuser..... Some stores .... Hate this attitude
I am beyond astounded how much difference the CO2 is making! Only after one week.I am definitely gonna start taking pictures on a weekly basis . Currently my line is directly put in my Jebo "wave maker" while I am waiting for my package from the UK. One thing is weird thou my playsand on top of my substrate is turning brown very quickly . Anybody noticed this and what is the reason?
