    Hi all.

I have a 260l tank that has a few plants and one patch of groundcover. But I am looking to add much more to this.

I want to do my first CO2 setup for this tank...I have a 90l that is planted but I haven't tried CO2 yet

If someone knows of someone selling or the best place to get..I am looking for a top range setup as i dont want to buy something that is going to fall apart.

Also any additional information about CO2 in the tank would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Grant

Well if you going all in...then don't skimp :p

My best advice...get yourself a 5L bottle (on a 260L...you dont want to run out of CO2 by using a condom sized paintball canister). Also, if your two tanks are close to each other, get a CO2 splitter, that way you can use 1 bottle, 1 regulator, 1 everything...but service multiple tanks

Get yourself a Dual Gauge regulator (most people...including myself...are using SAGA's)

PROPER TUBING...not the crap that's gonna leak CO2 because a petshop sold you glorified airline tubing...

    AND a proper non-return valve (metal) & diffuser...beter yet...a REACTOR

Stuff like bubble counters, indicators (even)...you dont have to buy top of the range IMO, they all do their jobs.

DORRY's can hook you up with what you need (just dont buy the 3-in-1 diffuser/bubble counter, valve thingy)

    PS. SOME TIPS:

    1. But two non-return valves (they cheap anyway). Placing one before...and one after your bubble counter (make sure you add them right way in). Just in case (highly unlikely...but better safe than sorry) one fails

    2. Quick release fittings on your tubing. NOT essential...but will make life a lot easier when you refilling the bubble counter, etc

Thanks so much. Unfortunately the two tanks are at separate houses the 90 at my girlfriends and the 260 at mine. Do you think I will be able to accomplish all of this within R4000?

make sure you have the correct lighting and ferts. if you dont have the right lighting most of the good stuff wont grow properly no matter how much co2 you give it

Ferts I'm sure are fine. I have a thin layer of the seachem aquasolum black humate which made a layer that is about 1cm think (used 2 bags so was impressed with the area it covered) then on top of that I have about 12kgs of seachem fluorite black sand. ( I know that mixing isn't always ideal but I find the black humate to be too light) so I have a layer of fert that's about 5cm thick. I have still got another kg of sand if this is too little?? Lights I am running a white T8 and a pink T8.. there is another pink globe in the lid but I think my starter has blown so it is not working at the moment.

Will this be alright? Everyone has said I should move to T5 units?

    Thanks for all the help!

It is 260l. It's 120cm (I think) by 64 depth and I think it's also about 64 height..Maybe a bit higher. There are only 2 t8s but there is space for one more but something in the hood is not working..

you need a better lighting kit if you want to get plants to grow properly especially at that depth. 2 t8 is not even close. 4x t5 will do it. @HennieRoux do you agree?

    Just measured now.

It's 120cm long, 50cm high and 42 cm deep. I can't really put more lights as it is all built into the lid

    Yes agreed, you will need @ least 4 x t5`s. Or convert your 2 t8`s to t5`s.
