I think it's just galvanised soft metal. I'm pretty sure it will rust.

Put one in a saucer of water, (i.e half out the water, half in), leave it outide in the sun for a few days and see? (You may need to top up the water a few times a day)

galvanised metal would not rust easy. That is why they galvanise metal.

Yep, eventualy. Maybe you could pray with primer and coat with non toxic paint to protect it from the water.

Galvinizing is a zink coating, it is more reactive than bare metal and sacrifies itself.

In theory yes. In practice no. It will eventually rust after continual water action on it. The principle of galvanising in SA is not up to EU or USA standards. (Just my opinion)

try a place that sells yachting / sailing equipment. they would have all sorts of brass and stainless steel fittings.

many years ago i worked for a place called "marine hardware" that sold all types of these little things. they are no longer where they used to be and i dont know where they are now, but that was in cape town (woodstock) anyway.

not sure if you'll find a place like that away from the coast..

yes Zoom, they will rust eventually or form white rust(sink corrosion). RE; standards.....i wouldn't know. But anyway, i think those might be allimunium?(always a bastard to spell)

Shihr, any enginering shop should turn that for you at a minimal cost.

    Hi Shihr

What is it that you want to join with this, maybe there is a different simple solution if we know what you want to do?
