What do you guys use to apply the background to the tank?
Google says to use baby oil as mine is still looking dull even after the water is starting to clear.

There is stuff called clear view, Seaview and poster fix. Just don't know where you can buy it.

Yes, but doing 100l at a time is a waste. I know I do daily water changes and mature about 1000l at a time. Work out what you need for two to thee weeks and do that amount with an airline in it and then go back and read the following, to see what product you want to use. I am trying the seachem safe and this is after darro anti chlor for months.

Try here, in gumtree all over. You just need to find the cheapest and tell them it is for drinking water.

We moved the tank to a different location yesterday and tested the waters for NH3, NO2, NO3 and all within spec.
Water a bit cloudy this morning due to the moving but should clear up by tomorrow. Have added 5 of our current Neon Tetras and 5 we bought yesterday.

 

Just need some nice pieces of wood in there to fill it up some more.
Tank must still cycle and know those c1600 can take Lots of bio media.
I painted my tanks black at the back. With some help from a friend that told me to use Acrylic paint from builders arts and crafts section.
Goes on really easy and just wash of with water if you need to.

Our previous 2ft was black background but want a more open/lighter look to the tank. The open space will get a tall piece but still looking for the shape i want, something that can create a nice big overhang/cliff scene.

 

Something like this but taller.

 

I have lots of slate if you are interested in a cave effect.....

Thanks RF our first big tank and looks like less work than these small 2ft tanks.

 

So the backing keeps bubbeling, just replaced with some blue vinyl but now it looks empty. Really need to find some nice big driftwood or some nice rocks.
