Thanks @Sean J these fish have been an incredibly fulfilling adventure growing them out from 4.5cm juvies to them now raising their own babies. 18 months of absolute learning experience and once again a HUGE thanks to Prof Dirk for all his input and sharing of knowledge. ( and for teaching me the single most important ingredient necessary for these guys to breed ).

It is unbelievable to witness.

 

I've managed to get mine to spawn, but never to that stage in the past. I'm more of a keeper, than a breeder. I am however, hoping, that the new ones will get to that stage. I really miss keeping discus.

The coloring on that discus is outstanding I am going to have to vote for your entry in FOTM for defernate even if it is a different fish cos both of them are beautiful!

The fish above is the female and she is a snakeskin red. I'll post a full fish photo of her later when she darkens up. Awesome black halo right around her dorsal and anal fin. Quite spectacular.

I love the way the fishes scales make the lines on her body look pixelated (for lack of a better word) and broken it makes her look like a 1990's Mario Brothers caricature.
