Thanks for the info Andrew and at what age would you remove them from the parents?

I try and leave my fry with the parents for as long as possible. When they start taking chunks out of the parents and the parents get annoyed, then its time to move.

Ive only really reared 2 good spawns thus far, and what I did was at 3 weeks I did a prazi treatment while they were with their parents, then at 4 weeks I moved them out and then did another 2 courses of prazi.

This seems to have worked quite well for me and I had no losses to gill fluke at this mark.

But as I say, we all still learning this side.

Thanks Sean, and yes, you quite correct. Tummies full of bbs. I try and feed every hour and a half throughout the day.

Day 17

 

Nice Andrew, would this be 17 days free swimming? or 17 days from time of eggs being laid? Asking because as you know i recently had an epic fail in raising my first spawn with all dying, but was told my fry werent up to standard size-wise for their age aswell at the time. So just trying to keep a visual day-day type visual growth benchmark from a seasoned veteran

3 weeks old today and constantly chasing down bbs

 

Wow nice fry they are growing up fast! Will you be selling some of this fry?

 

yes they have really taken off now and the vertical bars are already visible on some of the youngsters. What is going to be interesting to see is what the 9 bar fish turn out to look like. Both parents are snakeskin, ie more than 9 vertical bars. This is my first batch of ss/ss young.

As for selling some off......I doubt I will be able to keep them all.

 

I would defenitly be interested in some of the young if you are selling them please remember me.
