Just to confirm, is this distilled water, or RO water?
And what is the TDS,GH/KH of the water.

You shouldn't be able to measure it as it should be practically zero and unless you have laboratory grade equipment it wont be good enough.

Basically the water is boiled, the steam is then run through a condenser and the distilled water is collected as it drips out from the outlet of the condenser. In the lab we do this from time to time depending on the method we are working on. Its a good way to purify solvents or separate solvents with different boiling points

Not looking to confirm if its 99.99% pure, just trying to establish how good the process was.
A simple TDS test can tell you a lot. Massive difference between 0 TDS and 55.

True but a TDS pen works on conductivity of the solution you are measuring. Since distilled water has nothing in it that conducts the readings will be inaccurate. I suppose for your purpose it will be fine.

The process will be fine. Its simply boiling water and condensing it again as I described above. Everything is left behind. What you will find is that if it stands for a while you will start getting microbial growth in it. We see this on our HPLC water so we change it daily. For an aquarium this wont be an issue though, I understand you just want as pure a starting point as possible before remineralizing to the desired parameters.

Ah, an airstill. You know it makes great rums and whiskies as well? :p

Might I ask how long it takes you to make, say, 5 litres of distilled water? I have a slightly bigger still here at home and if it's worth running it, I will for larger volumes.
