I bought a 20 oz cylinder. It is one of the larger ones.I will have to monitor and give feedback on how long it lasts.
Do you by any chance have a before and after photo of the tank?? And also if you add any other fertilizers ??
Using ferts with Iron added to it for our hard water in gauteng. I,ve also trippled my lightning. 1 x White Cool White T8 36Watt 1 x Warm White T8 36 Watt 1 x Red(Aquaglow) T8 36 Watt 1 x Blue T8 36 Watt For good plantgrowth you need . 1 - Light 2 - Food(Fertilizer) 3 - Co2(Cell Building Blocks) First photo of plants after CO2,good Lighting and Fertz. Second Photo before CO2,Bad Lighting, and wrong Fertz. You need all 3 aspects to be correct for Super plant growth.
And mine cost me about R450.00(if i needed to buy all the parts new,and i did not need to) and works just as well,if not better than sera because the diffuser is 100% effective. I think the most important part of a CO2 be it Diy or a brandname is the diffuser.
I was thinking of using a paintball cylinder ! just thought it would be hard to connect and get a slow constant flow ! you are the man slojo. if pta people want cheap cylinders go to paintballonline.co.za remember those cylinders need to be serviced .
Hi Slojo, If you stick the airstone further down, then the CO2 has more time to dissolve in the water. You can also try and seal the diffuser ontop so that their is a constante co2 bubble inside.(secure the diffuser with 2 suction cups) This will make you use even less co2. i've used an airstone with the diy version but it clogs it up very quickly (whitish stuff - presumably the froth or something) I must say that this idea of yours is definately a real time and money saver. If you stick the airstone further down, then the CO2 has more time to dissolve in the water. I chucked the airstone a while ago. You can also try and seal the diffuser ontop so that their is a constante co2 bubble inside. The diffuser is sealed on top. Actually the CO2 as well as the Water from the pump come in on top,and the bubbled gets broken up into a very fine mist before being forced out at the bottom.
Shakster... you said R 4,500.00 (Four THOUSAND five hundred). Slojo's is R450.00 (Four HUNDRED and fifty). If my maths is correct, that's a TENTH of the price of buying pressurized system from LPS
A good regulator with needle valve is the most important part of a pressurized Co2 system. Not using a proper regulator is a disaster in the waiting and without a needle valve to fine tune or gauges to gauge the amount of Co2 left, you run the risk of that phenomena called end-of-tank Co2 dump.
er ,the sera c02 system is 4500 and the reactor from boyu is 450 so you say i i can use a co2 canister from a paintball gun
Update. I encountered a small problem with the DIY CO2. The Co2 were injected straight into the Reactor. Problem is you cannot see how many bubbles per second/minute is going into the reactor. Fixed it by using a 1/2 litre coke bottle.Tubing from Co2 going into the bottle to about 5 cm from bottom.Outlet to tank from top of bottle.Fill it about 3/4 with water. Presto now i can count the bubbles.
Followed these instructions. Its now been 18hrs. Phoned home and mother said nothing has changed. Am i correct saying a 2l must be used? Any other reasons why this isnt working
