I hear you...I just called it HOB, cos I have no other place to put it. The thinking is too have more volume for media than an HOB. You can call it a filter:). I'm also going to try to use a higher volume pump than a HOB.
Is your thinking that it is not a good idea. Will this be worse than a HOB?

I believe will be better than HOB as more media and large water volume and flow through filter.

If you read the post, if there is a blockage in any of the compartments it, allowance is made to overflow to the next compartment till the point it reaches the return chamber. This was considered when designing the system.

100% Blade - point is to consider the higher volume as per Brad ..

:) one designs a thing with one DIY thought and then somebody else wants it for another ...

Any ETA when we will see the first in action? Always nice to see a V2 develop once it is in the field for a while. If one wants to increase the potential market making it modular could be interesting .. like - think like slide-in dividers, an egg crate like insert for a false floor to create a single pot bit with flow at the bottom etc.

Keen to see how this develops.

Well more volume than the current aquaclear 30 i have. My tank is only 3 foot. So i wont be trying to make it a river and the pump will be chosen so its just right not to spill over and create a mess.
ETA ? mmm, Im currently looking for someone to laser cut it in Durban and ill go from there. Not in a hurry, just a little project to test and learn.

Im not sure if Blade as any ambition to sell these things. I just needed help to know how the flow works in these filters and was planning to cut and glue this "box" myself. Blade just came in and took it to a professional level and helped me alot.
