DIY TANK - The beginning of a planted tank

Where will you be getting the plants from TM?

 

Wow . . this thread needs some updating . .

So my cousin ditched me with the Fluval Heater and Filter. . .Because of time and budget constraints I had to downsize my initial plan . . I already have the following

Boyu EFU-50 (UV Light)



Seachem Flourite Black



Boyu PLB-45



DAZS CO2 diffuser

From the above list you can already guess that I am going planted. I might have to convert the light as it is only 18W PC Tube . . Is this enough light?

The new dimensions are 450X300X300 . . made from 5 panels of clear glass with the front/6th panel being Starphire/Starfire glass

I still have to get black silicone and buy the glass . .put the tank together and fill.

Might plant this with:

HM, Glosso, Java Fern, Micro Sword and a few more things that I have no names for . .

Stocking

1 Pair of Apistogramma and a school of 10 neon tetras or golden white clouds . . .

Theme : Dutch Scape

Chosen Ferts : Seachem Flourish

Co2 : Carbon from excel + DIY or Pressurized

I will update as I go along . . .

 

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the starphire glass per sheet?

 

Usually 3 times more than regular glass . . but crystal clear . .I need this . .

 

I've got most of what I need now. Due to some mix up I am still waiting for the light to be shipped. Until then the actual tank build is being postponed as I need measurements to get the glass cut.

I wont be posting a step by step guide . .rather just a finished product ..

Hey . . to all planted tank gurus

I need advice on lighting. I have an 18w PL/PC bulb light that has a reflector. It's color temperature is 6400k.

I will be dosing Flourish, potassium and excel. Substrate is fluorite black.

Will this 18w suffice for most plants in a 45LX28HX30W tank?

What plants is this lighting best suited to?
