    My pair of jd breed often both look as normal jd but i do get about 5to10 ebjd on each batch as u say very sensitive little guys

    Cool.. Give it a try. You'll have to separate them from what I've read. They're much weaker than normal JD fry.

    one or both of your JD carry the blue gene. You're lucky enough to be able to breed EBJD if you had the space:)

    My 2 EBJD have been in their destination tank for a couple of days now. They're fairly aggressive already, so we'll have to see how things pan out for them....

    I have been meaning to ask you how the aggression levels are wit the severums as I have been eyeing them out for a while...

    It's still too early to tell, as the Severums are much bigger. I think it may become an issue later.

    Mind you....The Severums are also cheeky... My big ones actually stand their ground with my Oscar and don't take nonsense from him so.... Maybe..

    Enophthalmia

    The two EBJD are growing at a phenomenal rate. Almost a cm per week at this stage. They seem very healthy indeed, except that one has sunken eyes (Enophthalmia). I've never experienced this before and don't know if I should intervene in any way? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    @Broder,

    Good to hear they are doing well.
    Never had to treat for that eye issue

    My lfs had some decent sized EBJDon the weekend.
    But the colours weren't that great. I have seen better. So I didn't get any.

    Their colour seems to change dramatically as they grow. One of mine now has dark blue, black and turquoise blotches. The other has become a uniform washed out turquoise, with a few black dots. I'll take some more pics soon.

    The colour does change
    But I have seen EBJD this size that were much more vibrant

    I hope these two slow down in growth rate soon. The first one is the one that I suspect has Enophthalmia.

    Wow, that growth rate is phenomenal!

    I am really tempted to try one of these again.
    But one only sees small ones for sale and not sure it would survive with my Rays.

    @Broder, these are absolutly stunning!!!

    I have the electric blue acaras which are very beautiful too but their growth is much slower
    I dont think they get as big

    I agree... @Reedfish... you really need to work on sweet talking the Mrs..

    Not going to happen
    I used to have a 250L tank and a whole lot of smaller ones. I was even breeding fish in plastic storage containers.
    Decided that I wanted to upgrade to my current 550L tank, and the agreement was my mrs wouldn't object, so long as I decomissioned all the smaller tanks dotted around the house.
    So we have a deal! :flowers:

    In fact, I am angling for a bigger tank, so........
