Cichlid comms take time to work out, I see very few working with flowerhorn if any.

Mean fish need the best planning, and some room for error has to be accounted for. I have seen many single species, single sex tanks work. Or spacious tanks with ample decoration

    I agree...

The combination might last until the Flowerhorn reaches about 10..15cm.. then the cards turn over
Once he goes over that size, the slaughter will eventually start..

The scat and African cichlids just don't belong there
And.. by the way.. scats are no angels...

Do yourself a favour. Go watch this video...also in perfect harmony... Except Joey can't add any fish and is going to end up making a separate tank for the flowerhorn... starting to see a common thread here maybe??

Ag no man ... about 1:30 and now I have coffee all over my lap, keyboard and that burning feeling of hot coffee flushing my lungs ... was thinking exactly the same thing as I was reading the thread, just did not think it would be called out so directly ......

Face wash and time for a fresh cup.

    Later Ferdie

@B@kkies.... at the end of the day you going to do what you want, as a lot of people have done and learnt the hard way (at the expense of the fish).. I have in the past had a number of fish that you are thinking of putting in the same tank. in my experience you are never going to see the loaches as they will be hiding all the time, your Frontoza don't have the temperament to stand up for themselves against other fish. among themselves, they do tend to show aggression to determine the alpha and chin of command so to say.... unless the 4 Blue Zair I had were 34cm sissys..
as for the Flowerhorn lets just say good luck. go watch Joeys 2000 gallon build and see what happened. a lot of people warned against adding Frank to the aquarium with the rays and Arowana and he decided to do it any way and now sits with the death of his (in my opinion) prized Arowana.. now Frank has started attacking the rays and will be taken out into his own aquarium ALONE....
I know you have some of these fish already and they seem to be doing fine, problem is they going to grow and then its going to be a different story.

That is the mentality that short term fish keepers have.

@B@kkies I also like Flowerhorns but just because I like a fish doesn't mean I run out and go buy it, if you care about the well being of the fish you will put their needs before you lusts for keeping certain fish. That my friend is a sign of a true fishkeeper and not just a short time fish hoarder.
