so fryday happened on saturday... and finally.... i get to day 7.... this comes off a million day 3's when they were all gone before revealing their heads... not a large batch and not sure they will all last, but gonna attempt to raise/salvage (read save) as much as I possibly can... i thought i must of learned a thing to get this far, but now that im here, i realised i know nothin, wish me luck... will try and update this thread as much as i can... lets hope this thread turns out to be a long one (if you know what i mean)
lol sorry will attempt in proper english when i get a chance... those who know the frustration associated with finally getting to this stage will know exactly what i just said
removed waste and dont wanna replace with too much water so as to not swing water paremeter to vulnerable fry too much, will increase it gradually
Well what I got from the post was that Friday happened on Saturday. And that after a million day 3's day seven happened and something raised its head? And that you tried to salvage/save it. And that you though you learned everything but you haven't learn at all?
the female is a SS eruption and male a 9 bar Blue Turq, will upload pics of parents later... lost 3 fry last night and 1 this morning :-(.. the 3 lost fry was due to my stupidness... *facepalm*
dont have recent photo's besides those first ones shown, but heres the female eruption, photo taken almost 1 year ago, so she abit bigger now.
yes it's a Pretty fish , that female! Interested in recent pics too :blink1: So, did I hear you moved work? Drop by sometime, if you need any help
Mr Altum hope you well sir... over the moon that the beauty i got from you is paying off... staying on the other side of the world at the moment, but thanks for offer, ill def call on your expertise should the need arise (which will be soon) so its DAY 9.. and i killed another 4 these past few days, i need to learn more finesse whenb working with these fragile creatures.. so this bring my murder count to 11 ... parents been doing a great job so far though... i was fearing the dreaded 4 week mark when most seem to lose fry at the rate of knots..... the good news,... i guess... is that at my current rate there will be no fry left to lose should i get to 28 days pics below
So fluke hit my tank in bad way this past saturday and it turns out it was one of the saddest weekends of my life. Lost 80% of the fry and to make a long story short im currently trying to save the parents. ill take the loss on the fry but not parents. I put them in there own tank yesterday as they looked like death. The male started swimming on his side as though he was feeling pain while the little critters (fry) chowed on his body. The female turned black and developed a ridge/ditch on her forehead, her mouth now looks like a beek.... the male is pretty dark too, both parent clamping and I had fish die a dreadful before and yet they looked in better state at time of death than the parent are looking at present... not expecting remaining fry to survive when i get back home today, just hope the parents pull through, female looked abit better this morning, wish me luck with this pair...
DAY 15 (10 days free swimming)Parents starting to pull through nicely, because of body flukes, fins were damaged and females tail basically gone, but saw signs of replenishing. 90% their natural colour has also returned and no clamping at all. the remaingin fry are still alive and only lost about 2 since the fluke outbreak. Think iv even seen some blue coming through in the transparent parts of their body. Moved them onto 100% tap water now...
Well done! ... It takes a lot of hard work and faith to get fish thru such a bad pacth. Now it is to get the parents health back to normal.
Thanks, yes looks like i have my work cut out. Might separate parents for a while, but dont have the space currently. Male starting to ram female and not sure if he wants to spawn or not, but they never used to fight previously so not sure whats happening there
