My first batch of discus young are ready to be sold.

These guys are now 3months old and a whopping 8cm in length. These fishes are on a diet of Dirk's Benkers mix, Ruto discus mix, brineshrimp, flake and pellets. They are eager eaters and not fussy at all. They were left with their parents until just over 3 weeks old so not artificially raised. The parents are a male leopard and a female snakeskin and can be viewed currently with their next batch of young.

I have a total of 14 fish available ( mainly leopards, but there will be 1 or 2 snakeskins available ) for the price of R 295-00 per fish.

I am not prepared to ship, so its on a collection basis only. I will give preference to buyers who are experienced with discus and are willing to look after these fish. If you are new to discus or keen to start up, then you will need to take a minimum of 6 fish and your tank must be correctly set up for these guys.

Sorry for sounding pedantic, but I know what effort ive put into these guys ( they are not a quick import and get rid of petshop type sale ).

I am interested, but my tank will only be finished towards the end of Jan. Then cycle and only then I can to start looking at livestock. We were thinking to go for 5-10 discus.

Collection is also a bit of an issue. 2600km round trip. Eish . Probably will have to look a bit closer to home.

Firstly i would like to congratulate you on those beautiful Discus you have there. I am a student of Prof. Dirk at Stellenbosch University and have been on he's case for quite some time now on raising and caring for Discus. Luckily he is so kind to help wherever he can so i'm thankful for that. I am busy setting up my tank for my Discus and would even keep you updated to help me perfect the conditions in my tank if you are keen to help me out. I would like to ask you if you can be so kind to keep this thread updated on any future Discus that are for sale coming from good hands like yours or Prof. Dirk please. Once again, great job on those discus you have there and keep up the good work.

Firstly, let me say thank you for the kind words. I've been extremely fortunate to have Dirk as a mentor so much of my success I owe to him.

I see you are a Bsc Aquaculture student.....so I'm sure you will know more about fish and fish keeping than most around here, so perhaps you would like to pop in at my facility in Somerset West and we can chat about discus if you would like. I'm fairly flexible in terms of time so drop me a pm and we can arrange?

Then to update this thread, I have sold off some of these youngsters over the weekend, but there are still a few left for sale and then I have another batch of young which will be available shortly.

I still have a few youngsters available at R 295ea and will hold this price firm until Monday 3 Feb, after which they will be going for R 325 each. This is to account for their size increase, cost of holding them over for another 30 days etc.
